As family members, we often feel as though we are responsible for our loved ones with mental illnesses. We forget, we did not cause it, we cannot control it, nor can we cure it. The three C’s can help us gain perspective on what it, what is not, our and what is, and what is not, theirs.
Below is a handout with exercises on moving through this difficult passage of feeling so much guilt for what we wish we could do or what we wish we did not do! And a guide for assuming appropriate responsibility in partnering with our loved ones.
Handouts are available from the book, “Replanting Lives Uprooted by Mental Illness” by Nancy Pizzo Bucher.
